The mastication lobe is the largest member of the lobe family and is the part of the brain responsible for receiving and processing chewing pleasure. When a human man or woman chews, the taste and texture receptors on the upper tongue send trillions of tiny pleasure signals direct to the mastication lobe via an intricate network of neural pathways. The mastication lobe then processes these minute mastication messages into pleasure signals. This process causes the mastication lobe to pulsate and quiver, emitting a reddish-purple glow from its core which makes the rest of the brain and thus the chewer happy. If the food or item being chewed by the chewer lacks flavour, texture or softness, negative signals are sent to the mastication lobe. This has a counter-productive effect on the lobe, causing it to collapse. This phenomenon is known as lobal deflation.
Since discovering the mastication lobe, Trident has endeavoured to find lobe-pleasing compounds and mixtures that serve both pleasure and taste in abundance. Their extensive techniques in getting to know the mastication lobe intimately has led to revolutionary steps in gum design, namely Trident Soft with its long-lasting softness and flavour and Trident Splash with its sensational dual-flavour and liquid centre.
Trident Splash fuses a single flavoured gum pellet around a separately flavoured fruit or mint inspired liquid centre. Fruit and mint inspired pairings are tested for their compatibility within the dedicated Splash research facility here at Trident. Melon and Cress, Banana and Peach, Vanilla and Orange are just some of the flavour pairings to have recently undergone testing. The flavour combinations we test are scientifically paired using intense pleasure and fuseability testing and a patented five-point lobometer score system. At 87.271LboM, lime had a close score to that of strawberry (87.234LboM) and so, scientifically, made a perfect flavour combination for Trident Splash. Vanilla and Mint topped out at 73.812LboM and 71.981LboM respectively, making them the next compatible Splash combination to make it to market.
